SCERT Assam D.El. Ed Counseling Dates 2017: The State Council of Educational Research & Training should declare the Results & Expected Cut-Off Marks before 10-06-2017. Even Admission into Lower Primary Course and Upper Primary Course shall be strictly in order of Merit drawn up taking into consideration Sufficient High Marks in the Preliminary Entry Test (PET). However, in order to be considered for Shortlisting, the Candidates shall have to secure Minimum Qualifying Marks in each Section of the Test and in Aggregate.

Selection Criteria: The Candidates have to appear in a Pre=Entry Test (PET) for 100 Marks and the Candidates declared as ‘Qualified’ shall be selected for the Course. Selection will be made purely on Merit Basis depending on the Total Marks obtained in the Pre-Entry Test & in Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) / Graduation Examinations. Same Criteria will be followed in case of Reserved Categories Candidates also.

Acquiring of this Diploma by a Person will not automatically enable him / her to claim Recruitment in the Elementary Schools. (Upper Primary Courses and Lower Primary Courses) Under the Right To Education (RTE) Act 2009, possession of a Professional Qualification, such as, Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.), etc., of a Teacher is mandatory for any Appointment as Teacher at the Elementary Stage in all Government/ Provincialized / Private Schools in Assam according to National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) Norms.

Number of the Seats: Admission will be open for Two Batches in each Teacher Education Institute, (District Institutes of Education & Training & Normal Schools) one for the Lower Primary and the other for the Upper Primary Course. (LPC) In Basic Teaching Certificates (BTCs) the Course will be for Lower Primary Stage.

Admission into Upper Primary Course (UPC) will be in the ratio of 30% for Science Graduates and 70% for other Arts / Commerce Graduates.

Out of the Total Seats earmarked for the Science Graduates, at least 50% will be for the Graduates in Physical Sciences and Remaining for Graduates in Biological Science.

A District-wise Merit List shall be prepared and Allotment of the Seats would be made by the State Level Committee (SLC) among the Teacher Education Institutes (TEIs) in the Districts as per Merit, and availability of the Seats. Waiting List will also be prepared.

Reservation of the Seats: There will be reservation of the Seats for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Classes / MOBC Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) as per the Norms of the Government of Assam.
